Holidays and Rituals
Temple Beth El Bradenton/Lakewood Ranch is a full-service, year-round Reform Synagogue with a great deal to offer. We are a welcoming family congregation with a full-time Rabbi and Cantor. Enjoy a Shabbat Service on Friday evening at 7:00 pm and/or Saturday morning service followed by Torah study, starting at 10 am in our beautiful 180 seat sanctuary. Services are a wonderful mix of Hebrew and English and consist of traditional melodies and Hebrew songs. Choose from a variety of adult education programs, including Bar/Bat Mitzvah for adults, along with many social activities, social awareness in the community, and belonging to an extended family. Temple Beth El is open and welcoming to Jews of all backgrounds. We are a Reform Congregation. Our goal is to unite Jews of diverse backgrounds, by providing a religious community that says, “first and foremost, we are all Jews.” We encourage interfaith families to participate as full members.
We believe that the most important aspect of Bar/Bat Mitzvah study is learning how to live a Jewish life. This includes learning such elements as our history and the reasons for our practices. It definitely should emphasize Jewish ethical living, best accomplished by one-on-one learning with teachers and with their parents.
High Holy Days
Temple Beth El is a small Reform congregation that is made up of dedicated members. We serve the entire community and never turn anyone away. We depend greatly upon the generosity of those who attend our High Holy Days services to keep our doors open all year round.
Temple Beth El has Hanukkah celebrations each year. Congregants bring their menorah from home, and we light them together at our Family Menorah Lighting. Following a Shabbat service with music and song, we enjoy Latkes! Holidays are an important part of the TBE family. We hold a community Passover Seder, High Holy Day services, Hanukkah menorah lighting, Purim and so much more…
Our Religious School program is designed for children from kindergarten through high school. Trained teachers make Jewish heritage come alive with activities that your children will not want to miss. They will enjoy holiday celebrations and “On the Bimah” experiences. Our children find Bar/Bat Mitzvah preparation is a joy, not a chore, which keeps them coming back.
